How the Vimshottari Dasha calculation works
Vimshottari Dasha is a 120-year sequence of nine planetary periods. Your starting period is determined by the lord of the Moon's nakshatra at birth.
The Moon's exact progress through that nakshatra determines how much of the first Mahadasha remained when you were born. Each Mahadasha is then divided proportionally into Antardashas.
Dasha dates are a timing framework for reflection. They should be read together with the birth chart, divisional charts, and transits rather than as guaranteed predictions.
Vimshottari Dasha questions
What does this Dasha calculator show?
It shows your current Mahadasha and Antardasha, their dates, the next period change, and the complete planetary-period timeline generated from your birth Moon.
Why is birth time important for Dasha?
The starting balance depends on the Moon's exact sidereal longitude and nakshatra position. An uncertain time can matter when the Moon is close to a nakshatra boundary.
Does a difficult planetary period guarantee bad events?
No. A Dasha highlights themes associated with its ruling planet. Outcomes also depend on the full chart, personal choices, and circumstances.
