Notice the house ruler as well as any planets inside the house; an empty house still has a ruler and a place in the reading. Confirm the date, recorded local time, and birthplace before drawing conclusions. When comparing calculators, also check their zodiac and ayanamsa settings. Different settings can produce different placements from the same birth information. If your time is uncertain, record that limitation beside your notes and begin with the broader birth chart before exploring finer divisions.

Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, which is based on the actual positions of stars and constellations. Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac, which is based on the seasons. Due to the precession of equinoxes over 2,000 years, there's approximately a 24° difference between the two systems.
